Impact San Antonio awarded $100,000 each to four nonprofits including Providence Place, Family Service Association, Alpha Home and Bexar County Partners for Youth. The grants were announced during the organization’s Grant Award Night on Oct. 19 at the Whitley Theological Center.

Christmas came early for the San Antonio Eastside Promise Neighborhood project: The collaboration, led by the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, won a $24.6 million grant to from the federal government to provide "cradle to career" services to improve educational achievement.Mayor Julian Castro announced the grant at a news conference on Dec. 19."What this means is that education on the East Side will never be the same," Castro said.

San Antonio residents gave impassioned pleas to city officials about the city's proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.About 60 people gathered Monday, August 22, at the Alicia Treviño Lopez Senior One Stop Center for the District 6 public meeting about the proposed budget. Officials representing city departments were there to listen to reactions to the proposal.
