After 25 years of overseeing and managing St. Mary’s Fiesta Oyster Baker as executive director, Steve Rosenauer has taken an even bigger leap in his Fiesta-related career. He will now serve as executive director of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission. “I’m honored to be part of this organization and excited to get going,” Rosenauer said. “I know there are challenges because of COVID, but I’m looking forward to working with all of our volunteers and a talented staff.”

Although Fiesta was cancelled this year because of the pandemic, the Fiesta San Antonio Commission has been busy tending to other business affairs and has elected officers for 2020-21.    Rey Feo LXII Baltazar (Walter) Serna Jr. of the Law Offices of Serna & Serna has been named president. Serna has previously served as treasurer, vice president, senior vice president and most recently as president-elect of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission.

During Fiesta San Antonio from 2012-2018, there was a nearly 20 percent increase in alcohol-related crashes in Bexar County and a 41 percent increase in resulting injuries, a study has found. The study, “Alcohol-Involved Crashes During Fiesta San Antonio,” was commissioned by Hill Law Firm to call attention to drunk driving that occurs during the Alamo City’s biggest celebration of the year – and to encourage Fiesta revelers to avoid driving while intoxicated.

The Dallas Cowboys launch their first-ever Fiesta medal that goes on sale April 2. The medal will initially be sold online at shopfiesta.org and then sold at retail outlets throughout San Antonio, including H-E-B. The cost of the medal is $15. Proceeds from the sales benefit the local Command of the Cowboys’ official non-profit, the Salvation Army.

About 250,000 people are expected to watch the Texas Cavalier's River Parade this year, but if you are unable to make it downtown, you can watch the parade streamed live by our friends at KLRN. Also below will be videos shot by girls from Girls Inc., as well as video shot by Charlotte-Anne Lucas, our executive director. I'll also search for tweets throughout the evening.

The City of San Antonio released its Fiesta San Jacinto holiday services schedule for Friday, April 22, 2016. And yes, you will have to take out the trash. But you won't have to pay to park at downtown on-street meters! Recycling, organics recycling and garbage will be collected Friday, April 22 as usual, while City Hall and most municipal offices will be closed to observe the Fiesta San Jacinto holiday. City services will operate as follows: CLOSED

Port San Antonio hosted Fiesta de los Niños on April 24, an official Fiesta event that is held annually and includes a day full of fun, including rides, free performances, food and craft vendors with the youngest San Antonians in mind. At the 2010 event, performances included Ballet Folklórico del Cielo, the Chinese Lion Dance Association and Vizcaino Entertainment, among many others.
