Bubby’s Jewish Soul Food recently reopened and, in celebration of the holiday season, is hosting a Hanukkah community party, on December 18. You can sample sweet and savory foods like latkes and sufganiyot. Feel free to bring your own menorah—and beverage of choice. There will be a community candle lighting. Other activities include Bubby’s 1st annual dreidel tournament, not to mention an ugly Hannukahh sweater contest. The fun and festivities will start at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Bubbysjsf.com and in-store.

Byline: City of San Antonio This opening reception officially unveils an outdoor photography exhibit showcasing San Antonio’s 40-year Sister City relationship with Gwangju, South Korea and that city’s designation as a UNESCO Memory of the World city. This celebration of Korean culture will include food, music, dance, family activities, and a special screening of the Korean film, “A Taxi Driver.”

Ukrainian Society of San Antonio is inviting everyone for a delicious lunch buffet to celebrate this beautiful holiday known as Vyshyvanka Day (Ukrainian Embroidery Shirt). They will have an open Fair Ukrainian style Bazaar full of traditional Ukrainians items and custom made designers jewelry for sale! They will be performing Ukrainian traditional Motanka Doll (good luck charm) Master Class for everyone who wants to learn how to make it and to take your motanka doll back home with you! They  are providing all the materials for this class.

By Lorraine Pulido VIA and the San Antonio Food Bank are partnering to help make sure homebound residents don’t go hungry during these challenging times. On March 31, VIA operators began delivering meals and supplies prepared by Food Bank staff and volunteers to homes and distribution points throughout San Antonio. Deliveries will take place Monday through Friday. Since VIA joined the Food Bank’s mission to “fight hunger and feed hope,” operators have distributed more than 650 food packages to nearly 500 locations throughout the city.
