The Leon Springs Famers’ Market has operated year-round with local vendors and growers in its historic location since 2007.Ever Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon, vendors offer products ranging from blue eggs, goat cheese, grilled peaches to fresh fish and live chickens.Mario Obledo, Jr., manages the market that operates in the parking lot at the Leon Springs Baptist Church. He said he established it to provide an outdoor urban activity for the Leon Springs community, and to bring local food to area consumers.

A free screening of the documentary "Food, Inc.," a feature-length documentary by director Robert Kenner, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 29 at 1306 Guadalupe St.According to www.foodincmovie.com, the film "lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing a system controlled by international corporations that prioritize profit over the health and safety of consumers."
