WeAreGrassRoots.org will host a series of “Family-Fun” Festivals to encourage voter registration in the San Antonio area. With five “Family-Fun Festival and Voter Registration Drive” events to be conveniently located across San Antonio’s city parks, WeAreGrassRoots.org hopes to attract the resident unregistered-voter crowd with a goal of creating a safe, fun, and family-friendly atmosphere where educating people on the importance of voting and then encouraging the practice in upcoming elections is convenient, guilt-free and straightforward.

Join us for San Antonio's 2nd Annual Jump + Jive, a mother son night of fun. On Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the lawn at the San Antonio Country Club will be transformed into a playground for moms and their boys to compete in field day activities and have a blast doing what boys love to do. Afterward we will move inside for dinner and a break dance party sure to get you and your son jivin!

Joshua Springs Park and Preserve will host this year’s Heal the Soul Train Run to Benefit Kendall County’s Women Shelter. Festivities will begin at 8 a.m. with a shot gun start. This event is suitable for the whole family. There will be a trail for both a 5k and a 10k run through the park. Non-runners can sign up for the 1.4 mile walk through the pastoral grounds. Awards will be presented to the top runners in the male, female and youth groups. This event will also feature music and face paintings, as well as pet adoptions.

Y'all are invited to the most rootin' tootin' rodeo this side of Loop 1604! There will be light refreshment provided for the whole family, from the little cowboys and cowgirls to the old timers. All will be served as we got grub to give. Bring the young-uns for some good time games and crafts. Take a picture with photo props and stick around for the petting zoo. The Woodlawn Theatre will kick off its second year of participating in the The Big Give S.A. 2015 by celebrating its roots and screening a movie. Now the home of live Broadway-style productions, the Woodlawn first opened its doors as a movie theatre and was the venue for the premiere of John Wayne's classic movie "The Alamo."
