The Linda Pace Foundation will host an evening of live reading in collaboration with Gemini Ink. Performances will include the theme of love and chance. The event will also premiere the movie Love Lettering by Rivane Neuenschwander. There will be literary poetry and spoken word performances by Alexandra van de Kamp and Diamond Mason.

San Antonio’s DreamWeek looks to have its largest offering yet of activities promoting the ideals of cultural diversity, equality, tolerance and progressive community action. The annual DreamWeek takes place Jan. 6-21, and includes dozens of events citywide — lectures, luncheons, community forums, festivals, exhibits, concerts, among other activities.

Applications are now being accepted for paid summer internships with local nonprofit arts organizations with funding from Bexar County. Through the Arts Internship Program, Bexar County provides $3,500 to ten local nonprofit arts organizations to fund an internship at each organization to assist with a seasonal program or special project. The internships will begin on June 6 and end on Aug. 12.

In honor of National Poetry Month, Gemini Ink will be hosting its' third annual La Voz de San Antonio on Thursday, April 16, 6-8pm at the Carver Community Cultural Center and Sunday, April 19, 3-5pm at the Gemini Ink office. La Voz is a citywide spoken word poetry contest that began in 2013 and is the initiative of San Antonio's first Poet Laureate, Carmen Tafolla.

John Pipkin earned a PhD in British Literature from Rice University, Houston, in 1997. His first novel, Woodsburner, won the 2009 First Novel Award from the Center for Fiction. Pipkin was a 2011 Dobie Paisano Fellow and is the former Executive Director of the Writers' League of Texas.

The Dramatic Readers Theater will present a series of poems, stories, novels and non-fiction performances to build a portrait of Charles Darwin, the naturalist and former theology student whose 1859 work The Origin of Species formed the foundation for evolutionary biology.
