Twenty-five San Antonio teenagers earned laptops and Sprint hotspots after graduating from a two-day digital literacy training program on Aug. 1, 2017. The training was part of the ConnectHome Digital Literacy Passport Program  which is designed to help students in public housing get a lift across the digital divide. Goodwill San Antonio’s Good Careers Academy is now enrolling for its administrative assistant and nurse’s aide programs to help individuals gain skills that are in high demand in our community.

Last year, Goodwill San Antonio served 24,799 individuals at their Good Career Centers, and placed 2,333 people from the Alamo City and surrounding communities in competitive jobs. The agency also proudly employs individuals with disabilities, a segment of the population with the highest unemployment rate.

Goodwill Industries of San Antonio is celebrating Fiesta 2015 in a big way by commemorating its 70th Anniversary with a special Fiesta Medal contest and donation campaign. The nonprofit will give away 70 medals to Facebook fans throughout Fiesta. For a chance to win this coveted keepsake, “like” Goodwill San Antonio on Facebook and correctly answer a trivia question for that day. Selection of the winners will be done by daily, random drawing. Additionally, people can also obtain a medal for a minimum $5 donation at the downtown Goodwill store at 406 W. Commerce.

Goodwill San Antonio is inviting the public to a free San Antonio Fashion Week Event where local fashion blogger Agosto Cuellar will join costume designers in showcasing how they have made fashion careers out of repurposing goods and clothing from Goodwill San Antonio.

The San Antonio River Authority, SARA, is hosting a recycling event, April 17, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at four Goodwill Industries of San Antonio locations. The event takes place during National Environmental Education Week, preceding Earth Day.

Goodwill long has been a one-stop shop for Halloween costumes. Now, they will be hosting Do-It-Yourself Costume & Makeup Workshops. The Thrifty Diva will offer tips and tricks to great costumes from Goodwill. Makeup artists will show how to get your zombie on with everyday items. Miss Nikki the Literature Lady and her dog Readmore Books will be there to share a scary story and lead fun-time activities for the kids. A perfect Saturday afternoon event for the whole family.
