That Americans have been sending bottled water to a people in desperate need is no surprise. We are a generous people who are often quick and eager to respond to a crisis. Whether it’s an earthquake in Haiti, a tsunami in Japan or flooding here at home, those hurt by such tragedies can expect assistance from the people of the United States.

San Antonio Public Library is reminding the community that all 26 San Antonio Public Library locations are designated as voter registration agencies. The deadline to register to vote in the May 10 Special Election is Thursday, April 10 (registration form must be postmarked by April 10). Every person of voting age, who applies in person for an original or renewal of a library card, will be given an opportunity to complete a voter registration application form. Already have a library card? Patrons can still register to vote at any location.

The San Antonio City Council is seeking applicants to temporarily fill the District 9 Council vacancy. Interested individuals can obtain an application and Financial Disclosure Statement in person at the Office of the City Clerk, located on the second floor of City Hall, 100 Military Plaza, during regular business hours or online at http://www.sanantonio.gov/clerk/.
