Challenged by the prospect of thousands of new houses being located within the Edwards Aquifer watershed, the Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance set about studying methods that might mitigate the effects of suburban development in this extremely fragile area. The result is a 106-page manual that is intended to fill a gap in the storm water management measures that currently protect the Edwards Aquifer in Central Texas.

Fiesta San Antonio, the annual citywide celebration commemorating the history and culture of San Antonio, kicks off on April 10 and will welcome locals and visitors from all over who attend the annual event to enjoy the many festivities. Mayor Julián Castro and the City of San Antonio continue to encourage Fiesta-goers to think “green” by recycling, making healthier choices, and by enjoying parades designated as smoke-free areas.

Fiesta San Antonio, the annual 11-day event that celebrates the history and culture of San Antonio, kicks off in just a few weeks on April 18 and ends on April 28. Today Mayor Julián Castro encouraged Fiesta-goers to think “green” by continuing the recent traditions of recycling, making healthier food choices and enjoying the parades that have been designated as smoke-free areas.

In 2011, Nocito was named a Forty under Forty Rising Star by the “San Antonio Business Journal.” She currently works as manager for the Energy Savings Solutions program at UTSA. In her spare time, Nocito founded EcoStrategies, a sustainability planning and implementation firm.
