 San Antonio City Council has noticed, in a positive manner, that cycling has increased in the downtown area. So much so that that the council approved a bike-sharing, touring and rental program.Read the City of San Antonio's media release hereThe program will start off with a total of 140 bikes at 14 locations supported by a central hub.

San Antonio City Council Thursday approved a new SAWS rate structure as well as a 6.5 percent rate increase that that will heighten city's water conservation.“We appreciate the City Council’s support for conservation as a top priority for our community,” said Robert R. Puente, SAWS President/CEO.The new SAWS rate structure reduces rates for lower water use while raising rates for higher water use. Ninety-three percent of residential customer bills, for example, nev er exceed 17,000 gallons per month, the threshold for higher rates.

VIA Metropolitan Transit System asked the public for ideas to improve its comprehensive regional transportation plan to meet San Antonio’s growing demand for public transit on June 15. The event at San Antonio's Central Library was the first of five community workshops to get public input on long-range transit plans, to hear VIA officials lay out the need for a comprehensive, county-wide transit plan to meet the burgeoning demand for service.You can watch, listen and see the online conversation in the videos below.

Every first and third Saturday of each month, The Helotes Humane Society holds adoption events at the NW Petco off Hwy 1604 and Bandera Rd. Every third Sunday of each month are cat/kitten adoptions.Please come out and take a look. All of our animals are given foster care in homes since the Helotes Humane Society is so new, we have no shelter. All our dogs and cats are rescued animals. All of our animals come spayed/neutered, and up-to-date on all of their shots. They are tested and treated before going to a permanet home.
