Less than a month after its opening, the emergency shelter for migrant children in Carrizo Springs is reportedly shutting down.
Vice News first reported on its closure — and the potential that it could continue operating without children — on Tuesday. It's unclear what the U.S. Department of Health and Human services plans to do; a spokesperson for the agency declined to offer additional details.

The Interfaith Welcome Coalition (IWC), a San Antonio volunteer community supporting immigrants and refugees, welcomed Carlos Marin, the new coordinator for the Migrant Overnight Shelter.
The IWC met at the First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 13, 2019 for a general meeting to celebrate the new coordinator of the overnight shelter program and discuss the latest in immigration news.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Institute of Texan Cultures on March 27 for the fourth Cultural Conversation event which was designed to challenge misconceptions about refugees and examine how entrepreneurship in the refugee community is changing the face of San Antonio.
The event was reated by District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg and State Sen. José Menéndez to promote tolerance and diversity.
