On Sat., Jan. 18, St. Philip's College will host The Youth Empowerment Summit.  This summit is designed to educate youth on social issues they may experience in today’s society. This year, the Youth Empowerment Summit has partnered with Rackspace for a robotics session. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Summit offers educational workshops for youth of all ages including poetry, music, leadership, self esteem, public service and financial empowerment. The event is free and open to the public. Youth of all ages are encouraged to attend.

Providence Catholic School students Isabella Rodriguez, sophomore and Madison Wilbur, junior consider their involvement in the National Hispanic Institute (NHI) a significant step in their journey to becoming accomplished and successful women.  Both students agree they are gaining valuable leadership and communications experience by participating in the programs offered for exceptionally motivated youth at NHI.

Registration is now open for the San Antonio Women’s Chamber of Commerce’s Level 5 Leadership Development Program. The program will focus on specific skills and knowledge exemplified by top CEOs in highly successful companies. Participants will be exposed to San Antonio leaders who will share their perspectives and insights on Level 5 Leadership. The registration deadline is Apr. 1, 2013. Attendance is important to gain the full benefit of the program, which runs 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for six sessions:

Improv for Business is an applied mini-program that teaches business professionals how to use improv to improve their leadership, teamwork, and productivity. We concentrate on teaching such skills as listening, accepting, supporting, taking risks, and minimizing effects of mistakes through interactive exercises. You need a desire to learn important business skills in a safe, encouraging environment.

Neighborhood Resource Center Announces its 23rd Annual Neighborhood Conference “Active and Healthy Neighborhoods from 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at the Laurel Heights United Methodist Church, 227 W. Woodlawn Kicking off the Conference plenary session will be a morning panel, “Winning Practices,” consisting of representatives of award-winning neighborhood groups who will discuss various programs and projects that make them active and successful.
