With state lawmakers immersed in the COVID-19 pandemic response and Texas’ electricity failures, the public’s access to information must be at the forefront of the Legislature’s actions. Information allows citizens to watch over their government, to speak out and to ask questions.
There’s no better time than Sunshine Week, which began on March 14, to emphasize the importance of the people’s right to know.

This short documentary follows the plight of a band of University of Texas at San Antonio students who launched a hunger strike last November, urging Congress to pass the DREAM Act.The strike began at the UTSA on Nov. 10, 2010, when several students announced they were "undocumented and unafraid." The young activists vowed only to consume water and fruit juice for as long as it took.
