The Mayor’s Fitness Council launched FitCitySA Fitness Challenge, the latest in a series of initiatives designed to steer San Antonians onto the road to better health. The Challenge aims to encourage and help residents to be among the healthiest and most active communities in the nation.

The Mayor’s Fitness Council (MFC) announces a graphic design contest and invites local graphic artists, including students of the profession, to participate. The winning submission will be used in a community-wide campaign to encourage individuals to utilize stairs instead of elevators or escalators. Using the stairs on a regular basis encourages physical activity and saves energy compared to using elevators and escalators.

The Mayor's Fitness Council will hold community screenings of the HBO production, THE WEIGHT OF THE NATION, an exclusive multi-part series addressing the national obesity epidemic. THE WEIGHT OF THE NATION comprises four documentary films featuring case studies and interviews with leading experts and with families and individuals who struggle with obesity.
