For the past 16 months, the City of San Antonio Department of Human Services Homeless Division has worked alongside Corazón San Antonio, Centro San Antonio, SAPD's HOPE Team, Municipal Court staff, and other partners to operate a resource hub for unsheltered homeless clients in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Downtown Resource Hub was located at San Fernando Gym, providing food, COVID vaccinations, showers, hygiene items, information on COVID-19, masks, case management, ID Recovery, clothing, and connection with community resources.

Daily Bread Ministries, a local Christian food bank, is partnering with a national nonprofit called Mercy Chefs that provides professionally prepared meals during natural disasters and emergencies. The organizations are working together to provide 2,000 hot meals to families in need this Thanksgiving.

Updated for 2019: Many kids rely on free or reduced-price school breakfast and lunch programs for food, which makes summer a particularly difficult time for hungry kids and families. Summer feeding programs help fill the gaps to ensure that children in low-income areas continue to receive nutritious meals during long school vacations.
