Back by popular demand, free classic movies at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens return this fall! The series launches Friday, Sept. 22 with On the Waterfront, starring Marlon Brando.  Picnics, blankets and lawn chairs welcome. Starlight Movies in the Garden is underwritten by Vincent Enriquez. Admission is Free.

The Alameda Theater, which opened in 1949 at 318 W. Houston Street, has been shuttered for nearly 30 years. Despite water stains on the ceiling and eastern walls, despite the removal of nearly 2,500 seats, the theater retains its grandiosity.
