Ed White Middle School will host its third annual Back-to-School Fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, August 13.The fair will offer multiple giveaways to eligible students:Free backpacksFree school suppliesFree haircutsFree immunizationsOther giveaways from various organizations To be eligible, students must be enrolled in grades K-12 in a North East ISD school, they must live within San Antonio's Council District 2 boundaries and demonstrate financial need.

Candidates in various school board races have been invited to participate in a forum scheduled for next week at San Antonio College.The forum, which will be moderated by Steve Spriester of KSAT-TV and Brenda Jimenez of Univision, will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on both Monday, April 4, and Tuesday, April 5, in the McAllister Auditorium on the campus of San Antonio College.

On Sunday, Feb. 20, the superintendents of Northside and North East ISDs met at Colonial Hills United Methodist Church to talk about the upcoming district budget cuts designed to anticipate the projected $27 billion state budget shortfall over the next two years.
