In a victory for the Hays Street Bridge Restoration Group and its recently deceased founder, Doug Steadman, the Historic and Design Review Commission on March 9 rejected a developer’s proposal to erect a 72-foot-tall apartment building next to the 58-foot-tall Hays Street Bridge. This has been a tough year to be a journalist, and, for that matter, a sentient, compassionate human being. I’ve thought a lot about my friend, Molly Ivins. I wonder what she would be saying, and how she’d be reminding us to stop and laugh right through our fears.

Here is the September 27, 17 edition of #AskRon with San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg talking about Hurricane Harvey relief. Nirenberg talked about the clean up and rebuild that will need to take place in Houston and the surrounding areas and talked about transportation in San Antonio.

Updated: Larry Noll, Presiding Judge of the 408th District Court in Bexar County, dismissed a meritless lawsuit against NOWCastSA and its managing director on Dec. 1, 2016. Noll dismissed the suit with prejudice at the request of the plaintiff, William Schlecht, former chair of the nonprofit news organization. A case that is dismissed with prejudice is permanently removed and the claims can never be brought back to court. (view the original court document here)
