By Abby Livingston, The Texas Tribune WASHINGTON — Former U.S. Sen. Bob Krueger, human rights advocate and the last Texas Democrat to serve in the U.S. Senate, died of congestive heart failure in his hometown of New Braunfels on April 30, according to local reports.

For decades, she was known to everyone who met her and loved her (and most who met her loved her) as “Shimi” – a word that captures both the iridescence of her personality and the fluid grace of her movement – but she was born Thanalakshmi Subramaniam, the first child of Subramaniam Thiruvengadam and Susila VIsay Lingham, on June 11, 1971.

Marja-Liisa Lennhoff, née Eskelinen, of Boerne, TX passed away at home on the evening of July 4, 2020 at 81 years of age. As was befitting of her brilliant spirit, Marja-Liisa left this world on the evening that our skies in the United States explode with blossoms of light. Due to the pandemic, no public services are planned, but Marja-Liisa’s family welcomes words of comfort and remembrances. Leola “Doris” Wallace was a fashion designer and seamstress who had an unusual knack for taking just one look at someone and mentally recording their measurements to sew the perfect dress, pantsuit or any other outfit they wanted.

Law enforcement from around the nation joined family and friends of San Antonio Police Det. Benjamin Marconi on Nov. 28 to pay their final respects to the slain officer. Marconi was shot and killed Nov. 20 as he wrote a ticket for a motorist close to the police department’s headquarters in downtown.
