A home for every pet... It seems like a nice idea, but can San Antonio make it a reality? Becoming a humane community is a goal even larger than the no-kill status San Antonio is on its way to achieving, according to the nationally and internationally recognized speaker who will deliver a keynote address at the San Antonio Area Foundation’s Community Conversation, hosted by the Foundation’s Talk About It! program, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Pica Pica Plaza Event Center, 910 SE Military Drive.

PAWsitively Sweet Bakery presents the first ever monthly SA Urban Pet Market event benefiting the San Antonio animal no kill initiative efforts. The event will feature vendors for pet products & services, food, kids activities, demonstrations, and adoptable pets from local non-profit organizations.

This weekend, Animal Care Services is joining San Antonio’s biggest animal shelters for Whiskers in Wonderland, sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society. This event aims to be the largest pet adoption event in San Antonio history. The adopt-a-thon features four different shelters throughout San Antonio, each with hundreds of adoption ready dogs and cats. Dec. 7-8, adopters can bring home a dog or puppy for $40 and a cat or kitten for just $15 from any of the participating shelters:

City Councilman Cris Medina, in partnership with San Antonio Animal Care Services and the San Antonio Area Foundation, invite you to attend the first-ever District 7 Pet Spring Fling from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at Nani Falcone Park, 7629 Mystic Park.  There will be on-site pet adoptions, low-cost pet vaccinations and pet licensing available, as well as food and refreshments for humans and pets.

Residents of 78207, 78228 and 78237 zip codes are invited to schedule an appointment and join Student Nurses Involved in Pet Safety (S.N.I.P.S.) Saturday, Oct. 8 at Good Samaritan Community Services Center, 1600 Saltillo St., for a free spay/neuter clinic. SpaySA will provide free spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats by appointment only.Pets will arrive for registration at 7 a.m. with surgeries beginning at 8 a.m. The event is expected to end around 2 p.m.
