Eva’s Heroes recently received a $33,000 award and 10 laptops from the Microsoft Community Empowerment Fund to support the organization’s Volunteer Mentor Training Program. The award will be used to train teen volunteers to develop a video training series, including sensitivity and safety components, to introduce potential volunteers to individuals with intellectual special needs and prepare them for behaviors and situations they might experience.

The Dela Wright White Charitable Lead Trust awarded Impact San Antonio a $25,000 unrestricted grant. This donation, in honor of Dela White, founder of Sunshine Cottage, is the largest, non-voting grant contribution that Impact SA has ever received. The grant will be combined with the membership contributions of the women of Impact SA and applied directly to the grants the organization will award to other nonprofits during Grant Award Night on October 19.

NOWCastSA announces it has raised rates for its live webcasting services, has updated its Nonprofit Membership Program benefits and launched its Business and Professionals Membership Program. As of March 9, 2016 the starting rate for a live webcast or video production will be $3,200 for events up to five hours including setup and takedown. Events five to nine hours start at $4,400.

NOWCastSA is eligible to receive donations through the San Antonio Area Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) for the first time in 2015. The Combined Federal Campaign is the only authorized solicitation of Federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations. NOWCastSA is one of 2,800 local and more than 22,000 total nonprofits eligible to receive donations through the CFC in 2015.

San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro and most of City Council stood with hundreds of members of local nonprofit organizations on the steps of City Hall to announce the kickoff of the the Big Give S.A. Scott McAninch, of the San Antonio Nonprofit Council, announced the receipt of major matching funds and prizes that will help 467 local nonprofits raise $1 million for their causes.

The UTSA student organization For the Kids (FTK) will host its 4th annual 18-hour, high-energy, no-sitting, no-sleeping Dance Marathon from 7 p.m., Friday, April 5 to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6 in the UTSA Convocation Center on the UTSA Main Campus. The fundraiser celebrates the organization’s yearlong fundraising efforts to help children with cancer and their families. The FTK Dance Marathon at UTSA in 2012 raised more than $35,000.
