Jenny Browne, a local author and educator, will serve as the San Antonio’s third Poet Laureate for a two-year term from 2016-2018. Mayor Ivy Taylor and the Department for Culture & Creative Development will host a public investiture ceremony at City Council Chambers in the Municipal Plaza Building, 114 W. Commerce, on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. to officially appoint Browne to the position.

The San Antonio Public Library hosted 2013 Texas Poet Laureate Rosemary Catacalos for a reading and reception on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013. Naomi Shihab Nye, regarded a wandering poet who calls San Antonio her home, introduced Catacalos by reading some of her own poetry. Then Catacalos read her work to the room packed full of admirers, including other poets, poetry enthusiasts, soul searchers and students. You can replay the entire event in this video:
