There’s no denying San Antonio has a large number of youth and teens hanging over the precipice — in danger of falling into lives as under-educated, chronically unemployed adults; alcohol or drug abusers; or perhaps incarceration. Since 1995, Por Vida Academy Charter High School located on the campus of Blessed Sacrament Academy at 1135 Mission Road has been throwing a lifeline to some of the most vulnerable in our community.

HemisView Farmers' Market is an open-air market with an urban harvest of produce, meats, artisan breads, free-range eggs and more. It takes place the first Friday of each month at 800 E. Cesar Chavez Blvd. from 4 to 7 p.m. A local Por Vida Restaurant will be featured each month, as well as local entertainment and cooking demonstrations. Cash, checks, and EBT Lonestar cards accepted.
