About 500 people came out for a Dignowity Neighborhood/Bowden Elementary Community Block Party celebrating the Promise Neighborhoods on April 30.The event, centered at the pavilion at the top of Lockwood Park, featured free food and family and children's activities. About 30 vendors shared information about community resources, from health to fitness, education and finance.San Antonio Councilwoman Ivy Taylor addressed the crowd and children from Bowden Elementary school made brief presentations before local musicians took to the stage.

Parents, neighbors and teachers from the East Side gathered Tuesday, March 8 at Wheatley Middle School for a public forum that gave education and developmental outcomes for children from the school district as part of federal grant called Promise Neighborhoods.You can watch the Webcast here:
