San Antonio hosted its first Sustainability Forum on June 23, 2015, part of the SA Tomorrow comprehensive planning process.
SA Tomorrow is addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with adding one million people to the region by 2040, through a Comprehensive Plan update, a Sustainability Plan and a Multi-modal Transportation Plan.

More than 120 people came to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Aug. 26 to listen and add their suggestions - some quite passionately - about how the city should redevelop the Alamo Plaza area.

The San Antonio Public Library, SAPL, has expanded its services with a new digital collection website experience just for children and teens. Through a partnership with OverDrive, Inc., Children and Teen eReading Rooms are now available at mysapl.org. The eReading rooms provide a virtual environment for children and teens to browse within the SAPL digital library.

February is African-American Heritage Month, a time to reflect on and celebrate African-American culture and heritage. The National Endowment for the Humanities’ Created Equal project uses the power of documentary films to encourage public conversations about the changing meanings of freedom and equality in America. Locally, the San Antonio Public Library, SAPL, aims to accomplish this through hosting a variety of events, film screenings and discussions throughout the month at various branch locations.

Updated Oct. 23, 2014: According to the voter ID law that went into effect in November 2013, every Texas voter must show an acceptable form of ID to be allowed to cast their ballot in person. All IDs - with the exception of a Citizenship Certificate - must be current or less than 60 days expired.

SAN ANTONIO (August 2, 2011) – Hispanics, who make up 60 percent of Bexar County’s population and almost 40 percent of Texas’, face special cancer risks.Minimizing those risks is the subject of a free public lecture to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Cancer Therapy & Research Center of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
