Every day at the San Antonio Greyhound Bus Station and the San Antonio International Airport, you will see an amazing sight: mothers and children who have just been released from family detention centers where they were held after seeking asylum in the United States. With all their possessions in two grocery bags, they await transportation to take them to sponsors in cities across the United States. Moving among these families are volunteers from the Interfaith Welcome Coalition.

Elected leaders and pro-immigrant groups came together on the steps of San Antonio City Hall on March 14, 2018 and vowed to keep fighting the anti-immigrant law, SB 4 one day after judges on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld most of the Texas law. RAICES provides services for women and children who have escaped horrific violence in their home countries in Central America. They have made a perilous journey to our country where they have been detained and vetted at detention centers in Dilly and Karnes and released sponsors in the U.S.

Southwest Workers Union & RAICES will be collaborating to present a workshop that shares information on how to stay protected if you are undocumented. There is much uncertainty on what to expect in the coming years for our undocumented communities. This workshop will help those that may not qualify for relief and start the discussions on sanctuary spaces and ally solidarity. Safe space open to community and free event.
