San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) has launched two new funding initiatives to assist residents facing financial hardship during the COVID-19 crisis as part of efforts to assist more than 19,000 public housing and SAHA owned and managed mixed-income community residents.
SAHA is contributing $350,000 to the City of San Antonio’s COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Program, formerly known as the Risk Mitigation Fund, to help SAHA residents with rent assistance. SAHA will also provide staff to support the program’s application review.

Twenty-five San Antonio teenagers earned laptops and Sprint hotspots after graduating from a two-day digital literacy training program on Aug. 1, 2017.
The training was part of the ConnectHome Digital Literacy Passport Program which is designed to help students in public housing get a lift across the digital divide.

After dozens of local leaders donated time and ideas to launch ConnectHome and bring high-speed Internet to low-income families, San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor laid out the long odds and the tall challenge ahead.
A child born in a poor census tract today "has less than a 1-in-20 chance of escaping poverty," Taylor told the group.

On July 13, 2013, the San Antonio Housing Authority hosted the Mission Road Bike Ride. An estimated 60 bicyclists, from toddlers in bike trailers to senior citizens, rode from SAHA's offices on Flores St. through the neighborhoods to Mission Concepcion, less than 3 miles away.
