The San Antonio Public Library Board of Trustees recognized Exceptional Library Leaders and Advocates at the ELLA Awards, formerly the Library Champions Awards, Ceremony on Friday, June 7, 2019. The ELLA award recipients are nominated by the community for outstanding volunteer work and dedication to the San Antonio libraries. This year was the third year the awards were presented.

San Antonio Public Library will temporarily close Thousand Oaks Branch Library at 4618 Thousand Oaks Dr.  from Monday, June 25 through Thursday, July 5 for improvements funded in the 2018 City Budget. During the closure the book drop will remain open, and holds will be available for pickup Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

However, it has been updated with the correct date of Jan. 15.  Forest Hills Library proudly presents Veronica Castillo and an exhibit of her Trees of Life.  "I thank the universe for having been in the midst of the intergenerated family, the creators of the Tree of LIfe. Playing with the elements of life LAND, WATER, AIR, and FIRE is special.. one can create pieces that .. tell the history of families or of cultures or societies that have vanished."
