Renovations of the Elmendorf Lake Park Improvements Project, approved by voters in 2012, was celebrated Jan 21 at 10:30 a.m.    Jeff Tyler, an engineer with the San Antonio River Authority (SARA), described some of the new features at the park.   “The main goal was to get the community close to water,” Tyler said. “New amenities include a floating dock and picnic areas overlooking the lake.”

San Antonio hosted its first Sustainability Forum on June 23, 2015, part of the SA Tomorrow comprehensive planning process. SA Tomorrow is addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with adding one million people to the region by 2040, through a Comprehensive Plan update, a Sustainability Plan and a Multi-modal Transportation Plan.

This FREE event is designed to bring awareness about SARA's newly developed improvements on the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River including enhanced parks and other outdoor recreation amenities the Mission Reach has to offer.

The San Antonio River Authority (SARA) has launched a step-by-step guide with informative videos to help homeowners design and build a rain garden which can help to beautify a yard and protect our river and streams from the harmful effects of storm water runoff. ”The website offers something for everyone: four short videos for visual learners, text guidelines in an easy-to-follow question and answer format, diagrams and simple math equations for individuals who enjoy an easy technical challenge,” said Karen Bishop, SARA Sustainability Program Leader.

The San Antonio River Authority, SARA, is hosting a recycling event, April 17, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at four Goodwill Industries of San Antonio locations. The event takes place during National Environmental Education Week, preceding Earth Day.

On Monday, Feb. 10, join Frank Christopher for an exclusive screening of his documentary, a national project telling stories of communities creating green solutions for our water blues – featuring San Antonio and the region, followed by a panel discussion.  Christopher, who will moderate the panel discission, is an award-winning public television documentarian. His work has garnered the highest recognition including an Academy Award nomination for best feature-length documentary and six Emmy Awards.

Bexar County Judge Nelson W. Wolff joined San Antonio River Authority (SARA) General Manager Suzanne Scott and SARA staff earlier today to review the newly reopened sections of the Mission Reach Ecosystem Restoration and Recreation Project that were closed following the rain event from this past Memorial Day weekend.

SARA has announced additional free screenings of the San Antonio River documentary throughout Bexar, Wilson, and Goliad counties. The next screening will be at the Pearl Ampitheatre on May 31. Fox 29 and CW 35 are sponsoring free screenings of the San Antonio River Documentary at 8:00 p.m. on May 31. at the Pearl Ampitheatre located on 100 E. Grayson St.
