We are at that time of the year where we are gearing up for the annual Chip'n Classic Golf Tournament. This event has been one of the most successful fundraisers the Alumni Association hosts and we hope to continue its growth even further this year. The golf tournament will be held at The Dominion on Monday, June 25, and we are looking for sponsors. If you are you are unable to sponsor please pass along the information to anybody you may know who would like to be a part of this great event.

UIW Cheer and Dance welcomes boys and girls from K-8th to learn some cheers and a short routine on Saturday, March 3rd from 9AM-12PM. They will have the opportunity to perform during halftime of the UIW Women's Basketball game that begins at 1pm. Join us in the new Student Engagement Center Ballroom for some fun and spend the day with UIW Spirit. Discount for UIW faculty/staff children. We will have a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. with a putting contest before the tournament begins. There will be a Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive contests as well. In addition, we will have a silent auction with all types of items ranging from sports memorabilia to all inclusive trips! This event benefitsvthe St. Anthony Alumni Scholarship Fund. San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro was recently at Woodlawn Park shooting hoops, tossing footballs and jumping rope, all in the name of health and wellness. The fit and trim Castro is on a mission to transform the Alamo City to Fit City. Youth ages 6 to 16 are invited to sign up to play in the Parks and Recreation Department’s youth volleyball, soccer and basketball leagues. Registration begins on Tuesday, October 1 and will continue through Friday, October 25 at 15 participating community centers. “Organized sports have the power to boost a child’s self-esteem and create lifelong healthy habits, while also teaching them the value of teamwork,” says Program Manager Geronimo Aguirre.
