A Town Hall to discuss a parking proposal for the St. Mary’s strip area devolved into a near-brawl Sept. 24 when the overflow crowd of more than 200 people spilled outside to an overheated parking lot of the St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church. The town hall meeting was hosted by District 1 Councilman Mario Bravo, Center City Development and Operations Department, and San Antonio Police Department to discuss the city’s parking permit pilot proposal and to share feedback.

Many people were confused when barricades went up near the St. Mary’s Strip from March 31 through April 3. The move to put a protective barrier around the nearby neighborhood came after residents complained about violence and vandalism by bar customers who trashed their properties.
