San Antonio's Pride Bigger than Texas festival and parade began the morning of July 1, 2017 with a community "Chalk It Up" creation of a chalk rainbow crosswalks at the intersection of Evergreen and Main. The crosswalks were augmented by a diagonal blue line in memory of San Antonio Police officer Miguel Moreno who was shot and killed near there a day earlier. Hundreds of people from across Texas came to San Antonio on June 26 to demonstrate against Senate Bill 4, the anti-sanctuary city law at the same time as a federal court was hearing arguments from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and El Cenizo who are suing to block the anti-immigrant law. At the 2016 Mini Maker Faire at San Antonio‚Äôs Central Library, you helped us make a movie about why San Antonio is a great place to live and how it could be improved for the future. We asked you what you love about San Antonio and you came through in a big way. Several of you said the best thing about our city is the people. Then we asked you how San Antonio could be even better, and you had some great suggestions, from better public transportation to cooler summers.
