The Cody Branch Library is holding a Harry Potter Trivia Contest on Tuesday, August 2.  This “Very Potter Party” will test teen’s Harry Potter knowledge by pitting teams against one another for the reward of prizes.  The event will go from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and themed snacks will be provided to the teens.  For additional information, be sure to visit mysapl.org

There’s no denying San Antonio has a large number of youth and teens hanging over the precipice — in danger of falling into lives as under-educated, chronically unemployed adults; alcohol or drug abusers; or perhaps incarceration. Since 1995, Por Vida Academy Charter High School located on the campus of Blessed Sacrament Academy at 1135 Mission Road has been throwing a lifeline to some of the most vulnerable in our community.

Using Federal Medicaid dollars, the San Antonio City Council approved an agreement with University Health System to provide adolescent health services specific to teen pregnancy prevention.

Abigail A. Baird, Ph.D., award-winning neuroscientist and professor of Psychology at Vassar College, is the keynote speaker at The WSSA’s 23rd LD Symposium. She will address The Ten Species: Brain Development, Decisions and Learning Differences. Eliot Garza, Founder of NSIDE Magazine, is the lunch speaker. This year an Ethics session is available and led by Henry S. Perkins, M.D., F.A.C.P., Professor of Medicine at UTHSCSA.

The McNay art museum will host a free teen night entitled: Art After Dark. Bring a can of Campbell's soup for free admission to this teen-only event. Participants will create photographs, screenprints, and collaborate on a Pop Art sculpture. Space is limited.
