From a press release from San Antonio's District 5 Office:
The District 5 Office is hosting a celebration at the Cassiano Park pavilion of the 1938 Pecan Shellers’ Strike, one of the largest strikes in Texas history. The event will feature artwork from Burbank High School students, music, and several speakers including Emma Tenayuca’s niece, Sharyll Teneyuca.
The celebratory event follows a City Council meeting on Thursday, which unanimously approved the ordinance to designate the Emma Tenayuca Memorial Way on Cevallos Street from Interstate 35 to Probandt.
