Preservation Day SA is a workday organized to address exterior deterioration of historic properties and achieve minimum maintenance requirements. In celebration of Preservation Month, volunteers will be providing exterior repairs and maintenance to three historic homes in the Government Hill Historic District on May 31 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

San Antonio youth interested in showing off their skills on the baseball field are encouraged to compete in the upcoming Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit & Run skills competition. The free event, hosted by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, will be held on Saturday, April 19, at Kennedy Softball Complex, 3101 Roselawn. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and competition begins at 10 a.m.

The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health) opened its doors to the new Baby Café today. The site is a drop-in center for everything breastfeeding-related, from professional advice on infant feeding, to support groups to one-on-one counseling, all in a non-clinical, café-style environment designed to support breastfeeding.

Twenty-four individuals with special needs – each with an accompanying “buddy” – will model the latest fashions at the annual “Hand in Hand: A Night on the Runway” benefit from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Morgan’s Wonderland Event Center, 5223 David Edwards Drive. Models will include students from Monarch Academy at Morgan’s Wonderland, a school for those with special needs ages 12 through high school that focuses on preparation for life and work. They will be partnered with “buddy” students from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas.
