The Mexican American Legislative Caucus held a Texas Redistricting Town Hall on Sept. 24, 2020 to discuss the census, redistricting and gerrymandering. In 2021, the Texas Legislature is scheduled to begin the redistricting process for 38 or 39 U.S. House seats, Texas Senate seats and Texas House of Representatives seats. Because of COVID-19, the Texas House and Texas Senate indefinitely postponed a series of public input hearings that were to have been held in cities across Texas in 2020.

The San Antonio Health Collaborative held a Community Health Town Hall Meeting on April 17, 2017 to talk about access to health care, social determinants of health and how to create healthy communities. Ana Sandoval was the only candidate who came to the event, which was held at Woodlawn Pointe. Watch the conversation between moderator Caroline Bergeron of the Health Collaborative and Sandoval and listen to the audience question and answer session afterwards.

During a March 9  town hall on Senate Bill 6 (SB6) “the bathroom bill” was disrupted by audience members protesting a lack of transgender representation on the panel. If signed into Texas law, the Republican-backed measure will force people to use public restrooms matching their biological gender, rather than the gender they identify with, which would primarily affect the LGBTQ community.
