On Nov. 13, 2017, the University of Texas San Antonio will be celebrating 20 years of having Downtown Campus. There will speakers including San Antonio Mayor Ron Nierenberg, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, Taylor Eighmy, attorney Albert Kauffman, former state senator Leticia Van de Putte, Jude Valdez, Jesse T. Zapata and Jose Menendez. They will be discussing UTSA's role in San Antonio from past to present.

Updated: What is "puro" in San Antonio? In a Feb. 21 event at Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex, 11 San Antonians offered their thoughts on what makes something or someone purely San Antonio. The consensus? It depends on one's viewpoint, the speakers and audience members said. The definition could range from music or color to food or sense of place. Or all of the above.

The San Antonio Neighborhood Improvements Bond Committee voted Thursday, Dec. 8, to recommend 13 distressed areas for inclusion in what would be the city's first affordable housing bond project. The recommendations are part of a five-category, $850 million total bond issue the city plans to put before voters May 6.

This year’s theme “New Age of Preservation: Embark, Inspire, Engage” challenges communities to take an active role in preservation. “Preserving our older buildings and neighborhoods provides a sense of belonging and pride. Preservation is about understanding that historic buildings are limited resources and we need to be engaged, as San Antonians, to preserve those that tell the story of our diverse culture,” said Shanon Miller, Director of OHP.
