A local state legislator and San Antonio’s top cop feel the federal and state push to step up enforcement of immigration laws, locally, could do more harm than good.
But a conservative think tank official and Bexar County’s GOP chairman say the federal and state governments are only wanting cooperation from police in local immigration enforcement to improve community safety.

The presentation is part of SA2020 and the UTSA College of Public Policy’s Great Cities Dialogue series, an effort that gathers leaders and policy makers for key San Antonio development discussions.
The two-hour event drew about 175 people in the Buena Vista Building Theater at UTSA Downtown Campus on Dec. 10.

A group of students at UTSA have produced a documentary focusing on sex trafficking of minors in San Antonio and will be screening it for the public early next month.The documentary, "Behind Closed Doors: Voices from the Inside," exposes viewers to child prostitution in San Antonio and tells the personal stories of those affected by it. The film was produced by students of UTSA's Advanced Policy Class in the Department of Social Work, according to a news release.

NOWCastSA webcast live as the SA2020 final report made its debut at a public party, barbecue and rally on the Bill Miller Plaza of the UTSA Downtown Campus.
Besides Mayor Julian Castro and SA2020 tri-chairs Graham Weston, Sonia Rodriguez and Daryl Byrd, the event featured many partners who have agreed to carry out parts of the community's vision for the year 2020.
