July 10th has been designated by Mayor Ron Nirenberg as SA Vaccine Day, and the City of San Antonio and Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) will host a COVID-19 vaccine event as part of a partnership to encourage residents to get vaccinated. During the event, each person who gets vaccinated will be entered to win a Spurs season package – which includes two tickets to 10 games. The winner will be announced during a Facebook Live event on the Metro Health page at 1 p.m. and will be contacted by SS&E to redeem.

VIA Metropolitan Transit will offer complimentary transportation for any person traveling to or from an appointment at a City/County-sponsored COVID-19 vaccination site—including the Alamodome, Wonderland of the Americas Mall, and others—beginning Monday, January 11, and until further notice.

Updated as of January 15th: The San Antonio Metro Health District has received another 9,000-dose shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines and will begin booking appointments today for the Alamodome next week. WellMed has also received another 9,000 doses that will be distributed at two City of San Antonio senior centers next week.

Emily Lastinger was three years old, secure at home with her parents and two older brothers. She was a healthy, happy kid. One day, though, Emily picked up the flu. Five days later, her heart stopped. And since that date, her father Joe Lastinger has waged a campaign to prevent this same type of tragedy from happening to other families.
