Updated: Larry Noll, Presiding Judge of the 408th District Court in Bexar County, dismissed a meritless lawsuit against NOWCastSA and its managing director on Dec. 1, 2016. Noll dismissed the suit with prejudice at the request of the plaintiff, William Schlecht, former chair of the nonprofit news organization. A case that is dismissed with prejudice is permanently removed and the claims can never be brought back to court. (view the original court document here)

NOWCastSA announces it has raised rates for its live webcasting services, has updated its Nonprofit Membership Program benefits and launched its Business and Professionals Membership Program. As of March 9, 2016 the starting rate for a live webcast or video production will be $3,200 for events up to five hours including setup and takedown. Events five to nine hours start at $4,400.

Each year since 2012, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc. (MHM) has awarded funds to NOWCastSA to support projects that democratize local health data. NOWCastSA has used these funds funds to enrich the local information ecosystem with more than 50 health data and information projects, including live webcasts and video productions, community asset maps, stories and even a student journalism training program.
