With its lush gardens and green landscapes, the San Antonio Botanical Garden provides the perfect backdrop for an afternoon picnic full of great food, fun and lively entertainment during the 4th annual Baskets & Blankets, benefitting Eva’s Heroes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at 555 Funston. The event is presented by Community First Health Plans.


Baskets & Blankets is a community picnic offering tantalizing baskets from some of San Antonio’s most exciting culinary artists, including: Ann Marie’s Catering, Boiler House, Chef David Yokuty Presents Coco Bongo, Julian’s Pizzeria, Magnolia Pancake Haus, Max’s Wine Dive, Spice of Life Catering, San Antonio Zoo, Rosella at the Garden, Smoke Shack, Central Market, Jason’s Deli, 5 Points Local and True Flavors Catering. “With spring in full bloom, what better way to get out and enjoy blue skies and beautiful sunshine with family and friends and all to help support Eva’s Heroes programs,” said Co-Founder and interim Executive Director Christiane Garcia.


Baskets & Blankets offers three tiers of picnic baskets that are available for purchase online: Kid’s Basket for $10 each; Standard Basket for two $50; and White Glove Basket for two $150.  Baskets and commemorative blankets are in limited quantity.


In addition to dining al fresco, attendees will enjoy musical entertainment from the band Retro Nouveau. Botanical Garden admission is included with event registration. Children can participate in yard games. A variety of beer and wine is available for purchase. Water, sports drinks, pizza and Snooze coffee will also be offered.
