The Amazing Preservation Race! for Kids

This year’s theme “New Age of Preservation: Embark, Inspire, Engage.” challenges communities to take an active role in preservation. “Preserving our older buildings and neighborhoods provides a sense of belonging and pride. Preservation is about understanding that historic buildings are limited resources and we need to be engaged, as San Antonians, to preserve those that tell the story of our diverse culture,” said Shanon Miller, Director of OHP

Come celebrate Natonal Preservation Month with a morning of fun activities, fitness, snacks, and prizes while learning about History, Architecture, and Preservation. This free event is designed for elementary aged kids. Kids, with their adult chaperones, use clues to solve riddles as they search for destinations in the Monte Vista Historic District. At each destinations, particants will complete an activity in order to get their next clue. The first 100 kids recieve a free shirt.

The race starts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, and participants should arrive by 9:00 a.m. to fill out a waiver and get their t-shirts and passports.

There will be food and games for all at the finish line along with arts and crafts set up inside so you can cool off with refreshments.

The start/finish line: 227 W. Woodlawn, San Antonio, TX, 78212
