Cultural Conversations

A diverse collection of civic and community leaders are meeting at the Institute of Texan Cultures from on Sept. 9 for the second in a series of Cultural Conversations.

The event begins with a reception at 6 p.m., and conversations until 8 p.m. Organizers hope to help neighbors learn about different cultures through food, dance and conversation, to “celebrate our differences and promote unity, tolerance an cultural understanding.”

NOWCastSA will be recording video interviews with Texas Star Heritage awardees - civic, business or community leaders who “contributed to the advancement of cultural identity, heritage and diversity throughout the state of Texas and beyond.”

Organizers include State Senator José Menéndez, State Representative Diego Bernal, State Representative Ina Minjarez, Councilman Roberto C. Treviño, Councilman Cris Medina, Councilman Ron Nirenberg, and community partners from the Jewish Federation, San Antonio’s Sikh community, PeaceCENTER, Dialogue Institute of the Southwest, the Institute of Texan Cultures and more.
