Daily Bread Ministries Thanksgiving meal prep

Date(s)

Daily Bread Ministries, a local Christian food bank, is partnering with a national nonprofit called Mercy Chefs that provides professionally prepared meals during natural disasters and emergencies. The organizations are working together to provide 2,000 hot meals to families in need this Thanksgiving. Both Daily Bread Ministries and Mercy Chefs are combining resources and skills to put together these dinners, which will include turkey, sides and dessert.

The meals will be prepared at Daily Bread Ministries’ 163,000-square-foot facility off of Rittiman Road, which will soon be transformed into the “Liberty Center,” a one-stop community resource center. Mercy Chefs and other volunteers will be doing the cooking and meal preparation. Four of Daily Bread Ministries’ official food partners will receive the prepared meals and host dinners for hundreds of families and individuals in their neighborhoods. The ministries hosting Thanksgiving dinners this year are: Last Chance Ministries, The Friendship Center, Ethnos Mission Center, and The Rev Ministries.

Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve these Thanksgiving dinners. Shifts are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on November 21, 22, and 23. For each shift, 10 volunteer slots are available. If you are interested in helping with this special event, please contact info@dailybreadministries.org for more information on the remaining volunteer opportunities.
