In late 2017, Dr Robyn Madson, Dean of the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine was asked to consider a way to participate in the year-long 300th Anniversary celebration of the City of San Antonio.
Dr Madson considered what a privilege it is for the osteopathic school to be situated on this historic campus and couldn’t think of a better way to honor the people who once worked on this campus and the amazing contributions they made to our Country, the State of Texas and the City of San Antonio and celebrate this historic year than by hosting a Reunion.
So, the Planning Committee was formed – comprised of former employees of the School of Aerospace Medicine, current SOM Faculty who were also once employed or trained by the School of Aerospace Medicine, SOM Leaders, and partners from Brooks Community – and planning is in full swing for the spectacular event! The reunion is set to take place on Saturday, October 13, 2018.
This is a community event that will be open to the public. This event will feature guided tours of KBRWyle Labs and the School of Osteopathic Medicine facilities, hosted by Wyle's leadership and current UIWSOM medical students and faculty; screening of the movie “Wings,” filmed at Brooks in 1926, and excerpts from the Documentary Film “The Story of Brooks” (introduced by the film’s creator and Brooks Historian) and much more!
We are very excited about this special event and hope that many will join the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine in celebration of the City of San Antonio’s 300th Anniversary and in honor of the School of Aerospace Medicine and Brooks Community.
