According to a press release, the free "Student Aid Saturdays Program" aims to increase the number of students applying for college financial aid by providing one-on-one help filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and/or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA).
Student Aid Saturdays is a partnership between schools, businesses and community organizations across Bexar County to offer free help filling out complicated federal and state forms for college financial aid. Through a collaboration of the City of San Antonio, San Antonio Education Partnership, Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, cafécollege, and Generation TX San Antonio, this program will help more San Antonio students apply for financial aid for college. Students who complete and submit a FAFSA application are 350 percent more likely to go to college, according to Student Futures Project.
Student Aid Saturdays will host events in English and Spanish every Saturday through March 17 at various locations throughout San Antonio. Find the location nearest you and hours of availability in the map below.
