University of the Incarnate Word Syncronized Swimming team will be having a Silent Auction and Little Mermaid themed Water Show on Oct. 27 and 28. Award-wining playwright Martyna Majok’s Ironbound is a dark comic, heartbreaking portrait of a woman for whom love is a luxury—and a liability—as she fights to survive in America. Darja, a Polish immigrant cleaning lady, is done talking about feelings; it’s time to talk money. Over the course of 20 years, and three relationships, Darja negotiates for her future with med who can offer her love or security, but never both.

The Orchestra of the Incarnate Word will perform selections from the world’s most popular operas, including “Carmen,” “La Boheme,” and “The Merry Widow.” The performance will conclude with selections from Saint-Saens’ Old Testament-based “Samson and Delilah.” The performance will feature soloists and UIW music faculty members Orit Eylon (mezzo-soprano), Blythe Cates (soprano), and LaDawn Petersen (soprano). The orchestra will be conducted by UIW music faculty member Terence Frazor.

National Night Out on the UIW campus will take place on October 2nd from 4:00-7:00. Students, Faculty and Staff are welcome. The event is free1 T-shirts, food, music, giveaways, and interactive participation for prizes at every booth. Special apperence by President evens, Judge nelson Wolff the UIW mascot and more surprises during the event.
