Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series: Race, Racism and Racial Inequality

Matthew W. Hughey, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Sociology and Affiliate Faculty in both the Africana Studies Institute and the American Studies Program at the University of Connecticut.

A scholar of race, racism, and racial inequality, Professor Hughey examines:

  1. White racial identity formation; 
  2. Racialized organizations; 
  3. Mass media racial representations;
  4. Public and political engagements with race, and;
  5. Advocacy and engagement with racism and discrimination.
