Help build a living history of the East Side

We need your help!

NOWCastSA is collecting oral histories to honor the stories of  San Antonio's East Side.  Scroll down for a video with the history of what is now the Carver Cultural Center, and once was a library for African Americans when San Antonio's libraries were segregated.

We need you to help us, either by being the guide or by agreeing to be the star of the show. Share your story or tell us who else to contact.

Help us get the whole story as we work together to create short video documentaries your neighborhood (see the video below for an example). NOWCastSA has a list of more than 63 points of interest that need your voice (see the map below and feel free to holler at us if we missed any).

If you have a piece of the story in your memory, we have the tools to make sure that history is not lost.

If you have old photos or home movies of the East Side, NOWCastSA wants to see them. Or, if you know just the person to talk to about local history, introduce us!

Please send an email to or you can call 210-859-2359 if you have questions or would like to arrange a visit or meetup. We look forward to working with you as we preserve and honor the history of the East Side.
