Texas Historical Commission Approves City's Proposal on Brackenridge

The Texas Historical Commission came to San Antonio to further discuss the City of San Antonio's proposed plans for Brackenridge Park where 48 trees are slated to be removed and 19 additional trees to be relocated.

The Commissioners met on April 11 at the San Antonio Botanical Garden where they unanimously voted to approve a permit for Phase I to the City of San Antonio.

Last meeting, the Executive Commission postponed a decision, asking for further technical information.

Although the THC approved a permit, the city still has to receive approval from the Historical Design and Review Commission (HDRC).

The HDRC meeting will take place at 1901 S. Alamo on April 19 at 3 p.m. and will likely be the last meeting for public input. Watch the livestream at www. Sanantonio.gov/DSD/Boards/MeetingVideos or listen by calling 210-206-LIVE (5483) and select the option to listen in English or Spanish.

Anyone who attends may sign up before the meeting to speak in favor or against any item on the agenda. Those attending in person may sign up on the Public Comment sheet provided in the foyer and will have two minutes to speak.

The public may also provide comment through voicemail by dialing 210-206-HDRC (4372) and will be played during the meeting. Click here for more information.
